MOD CHIEF SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR’S COMMENDATION FOR 26 SQN RAF REGT
On 28 Jun 11, 26 Sqn RAF Regt was awarded the MOD’s Chief Scientific Adviser’s, (Professor Sir Mark Welland) Commendation. The citation highlighted 26 Sqn’s contribution of scientifically-aware military Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) expertise to the Nuclear Accident Response Organization (NARO) and the Sampling and Identification of Biological, Chemical and Radiological Agents (SIBCRA) capabilities. Also cited was the Radiation Monitoring Team’s (RMT) deployment to Japan during the recent nuclear facility incident, the only Force Element in Defence to conduct CBRN operations during the last year, and the continued commitment, through frequent and detailed liaison with Defence scientists, in the delivery of CBRN capability.
